I've heard it said we've returned to a world with old-fashioned colonialism. Just tell me: when did it stop? Perhaps all the imperial nations of the world took a little snooze from their colonial activities for about 9 minutes in the summer of 1923? Is that the cutoff? Was the birth of neo-colonialism the moment the first machine was fired rather than a musket? Or did it change when mass media began started keeping the world up to date and powerful realized they had to smile for the camera?

Or did someone just invent the idea of neo-colonialism to disguise the fact that empires have actually existed at all in the last 50 years? Or does it describe difference between technical colonies and a puppet government that answers only it master state?

WHEN DID IT EVER END?

WHEN WILL IT EVER END!?
